Cliff Stability Assessment, North Devon

A private boat was chartered as part of the assessment of a stability of a property near to the edge of a cliff.

The boat allowed the observation and inspection of the structure of the cliff beneath the property, with particluar attention paid to the geometry of the various discontinuity sets, so that the possible mechanisms of slope failure could be assessed.

The investigation also included the inspection of the existing foundations and subsoils, as well as in-situ and laboratory testing.

The report provided a discussion on possible reasons for movement, together with recommendations for slope stabilisation remedial works.
